What Can the Faith Community Do About Affordable Housing?

A wonderful movement is underway within the faith-based community here in Clark County. Faith Partners for Housing (FP4H) is an organization of churches and faith-based organizations that came together in 2016 to work on long term solutions to homelessness, and St. Anne’s is one of FP4H’s newest member congregations. The FP4H mission is to create safe, affordable and decent housing for working families, seniors and people with disabilities. A home for everyone, a tent for no one. Want to learn more?

Find out how to get involved:

1. Speak to Mary Tipton, who leads our ministry to the unhoused at St. Anne’s.

2. Get on the FP4H mailing list to receive updates.

Washougal Winter Shelter

On Thursday, 14 November from 6-7:30 pm, the Washougal Winter Shelter will hold an organizational meeting and training session for volunteers, at the Washougal Community Center. St. Anne's provided essential support to the shelter last year, and the outreach team encourages all interested to attend the organizational session. Families in Need

The Family Resource Center, located at Hathaway Elementary School in Portable B, is getting ready to equip 60 children entering kindergarten this fall. They are in particular need of clothing in sizes 4T, 5tT and 6. Sweatpants are especially welcome. The resource center  provides clothing and small household items to families that need them. It is a remarkable service, and well worth a visit. They have a washer/drier and can clean donations. Anything too used will be sent out to be turned into rags. Personal items, and items such as crockpots/dishes, etc. that can help domestic violence survivors re-establish a household are also welcome. During the school year they are open Mondays 10-4. They will also be open Monday mornings in July beginning the 8th.

Questions: Jana (360-241-0939, jrimom@gmail.com) or you can speak to the family Resource Coordinator at Hathaway directly:

When 1 in 2 Americans is poor and the news of the day is climate chaos, police brutality, foreign wars, and tax cuts for the wealthy, we need Dr. King’s “revolution of values” and a moral revival in America more urgently than ever. It’s time not to commemorate Dr. King’s work, but to complete it.

The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival is uniting tens of thousands of

people across America to challenge the evils of systemic racism, poverty, the war economy, ecological devastation and the nation’s distorted morality. We need to step up and join efforts.

Add your name now if you’re ready to help unite all Americans in our movement to transform the political, economic and moral structures of the country.  Can you join and take action? Click here: http://poorpeoplescampaign.org/?source=autoemail  Thanks!
